European Casino Association welcomes Montenegro as 26th member
20 February 2017
Maestral resort & casino is owned by Monterock Ltd., a company investing in hospitality and leisure. The casino is operated by Hit Slovenia d.d., a respected, state-owned Slovenian company that operates nine casinos in Slovenia and the Western Balkans.
"Casino Maestral is very proud to join the European Casino Association, whose ethical values and practices we share and which we strongly believe should prevail in the entire casino industry. Our participation in the ECA will help us to lead the gaming industry in Montenegro and bring a fresh perspective to this important economic activity – embracing best practices and implementing latest trends. We look forward to a fruitful exchange of ideas and we will contribute to help the ECA achieve its goals," said HIT Montenegro’s CEO, Christos Tsemperas.
ECA Chairman, Per Jaldung, welcomed the new member, stating: “It is good to see that more and more countries with an organised and licensed casino market are joining the ECA. With the support of our membership, we are in a strong position to support the European institutions in their endeavours to tackle the issues facing the gaming industry like, for instance, unlicensed and illegal cross-border gaming and its impact on society.”
The ECA believes that a responsible, secure and well-regulated casino industry contributes to society and to economic prosperity by creating job and career opportunities, supporting the arts, culture, sports and social welfare, enhancing tourism, and generating revenues through balanced taxes and fees – all to the benefit of the countries of Europe.
