Commission set to consider EU legislation on gambling

ECA Welcomes Santa Casa Ruling of the ECJ
8 September 2009The European Casino Association (ECA) strongly welcomes the ruling of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), in the case of the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional and Bwin against Portugal (C-42/07), which upholds the right of EU Member States to maintain restrictions on the provision of online gambling services within their territory in order to safeguard responsible gambling and combat fraud and crime.
Comments from the ECA on the ERA conference on gambling
14 June 2009This ECA paper comments on the conference “Gambling in the Internal Market” organised by the Czech Presidency in cooperation with the European Law Academy (ERA), which took place on 15 – 16 June 2009 in Prague. The ECA deplores the lack of representation at this conference of important stakeholders accounting for a major part of the gambling sector and provides its input to the ongoing debate on gambling.
